A person’s blood pressure is arguably the most important piece of data obtained in our vital signs. It is very easily measurable by placing a cuff on a person’s arm. Yet, no one knows what the two numbers mean. Even physicians cannot explain it well. Most people just know that they have “high blood pressure” and then take a pill or two to treat it. Despite all of the mystery, blood pressure is very easy to understand. This seminar will use very simple physics to define blood pressure and how it affects the human body.
