In a world often dominated by Swallow, Wiener, and whips, it's no wonder that "politics" seems to be a dirty word -- just like the B-word, the V-word, the P-word, the L-word, the C-word, and the F-word (bureaucrat, voter, press/politician/president, lobbyist, candidate, federal employee/feminist).
The Dirty Word lecture series, presented by the American Democracy Project, aims to break the stereotypes behind these words, and show the truth and goodness that survives even in the world of politics.
This series will bring speakers to campus to discuss why these words have such a bad rap, what these positions are truly about, and why a person's negative predispositions to politics and engaged citizenship might be the real dirty laundry in society.
Brad Mortensen, WSU's VP of University Advancement (our lobbyist), will be speaking about the role of a lobbyist in American government, policy, and general life.
